Repertoire

 

The competition will have three stages:

 

Pre-selection repertoire (25-30 min. recording)

– One sonata movement by Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven

– One Virtuoso Study (Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninov or Scriabin);

– 1 or more works to complete the minimum playing time.

 

Semi-final repertoire (55-60 min solo recital)

- In this stage, the competitor must perform a solo recital of his own choice, forming a repertoire of different styles, including a mandatory Brazilian work of at least 5 minutes.

Final repertoire (solo 45-50 min.  and chamber music)

a) In this stage, the competitor must perform a solo recital of his own choice (45 to 50 min.) , forming a repertoire of different styles, including a mandatory sonata by Haydn or Mozart of his choice.

b) one of the piano quintets listed below:

- Brahms – Piano Quintet in F Minor, op. 34

- Franck – Piano Quintet in F Minor

- Dvorák – Piano Quintet in A Major, op. 81

- Schumann – Piano Quintet in E Flat Major, op. 44

The competitors will be accompanied by Quarteto Camargo Guarnieri (São Paulo / Brazil).

 

Pre-selection rules

The pre selection repertoire must be sent in a 25 to 30 minutes long DVD recording.
The recording must be made following these guidelines:
1 – The DVD must be recorded with the camera facing the right profile of the pianist.
2 – The camera must have a fixed image showing the hands, feet and body at all times.
3 – No zoom allowed after the start of the recording.
4 – No cutting, editing or other stratagems allowed.
Breaking any of the rules will disqualify the applicant.

Exception
Young pianists who have won 1st prize in a WFIMC (World Federation of International Music Competitions) competition after June 2008 are classified for the semi-final without having to send a DVD recording.
